#278: Infinite Monkey Theorem No. 3

Here we have a prequel to No. 271 (“Infinite Monkey Theorem, The Sequel”), and No. 160 (“The Oxford Comma”), in which the troop begins its infinite journey with the drip period works of Jackson Pollock, then presumably tackles The Complete Works of William Shakespeare in #160, and then moves on to their crowning achievement, The Very Best of Hall & Oates, in #271. This all makes more sense to me now. I thought Artie was heading toward a larger franchise with “The Troop”, in which they re-create the masterworks in every possible medium, but I think he’s of the opinion now that this little gag has runs its course. The licensing team wants at least one more panel in the series, so they can go after the drink coaster market, but Artie’s unwilling to create another one just to fill out a set of coasters. (If he wanted to, I thought he could make a 4th installment where the Troop directs the final episode of Game of Thrones. But he says this is it. Oh, well.) It’s Saturday and it’s raining in Seattle, which isn’t supposed to happen in early August, but we haven’t had any major forest fires this year so I’m not going to complain. I think I’m just going to do some laundry. Enjoy the weekend. -Ed.
