We’re trying to keep to a publishing schedule, but it’s been difficult w the FBI and DEA crawling all over the place. And one guy from Interpol. They’ve taken over the conference room, & they’re using the break room to reassemble whatever they found in the shredder. They’ve been pouring over the accounting books + accessed all of our emails & made copies of everyone’s hard drives. But that isn’t even the disruptive part. The disruptive part is, they’ve been interviewing everyone in the office, sometimes more than once. Jenny from Ad Sales has been in there 3 times. Slothrop’s telling us to stay calm and get on with business, but you can tell he’s panicked. He looks like he lunched on straight jalapeños. Everyone’s been stress eating, so the snack machine’s empty and they don’t come to fill it til Monday. I haven’t been called in yet, they seem to be going in alphabetical order, but Inky said they spent 45 minutes grilling him on his use of the corporate Amex card. I knew this wasn’t going to end well. I doubt anyone knows anything about the Icelandic plush doll smuggling thing, but every person in this office is going to have to justify their use of the corp Amex card to... I don’t know who actually. Someone, though. So let’s just say concentration is at a premium. The cubicles are filled with thousand-yard stares. But the show must go on, so... You may recall that Licensing wanted a 4th Infinite Monkeys panel to fill out a set of coasters. Artie balked, but eventually came around based on a suggestion from Syd while they were binge watching old episodes of Designing Women on Hulu. So Artie made the punchline about Designing Women, but Slothrop mustered enough interest in the business-as-usual to remind us of his targeted caption plan, and volunteered the Netflix line. So now the 45+ demo will get the Designing Women version & everyone else gets Netflix. Not sure which one goes in the coaster set. The Licensing team is a little preoccupied and not really appreciating Artie’s effort right now. Anyway, here is #286, presented from under a heavy cloud of suspicion.
