The Control Room
Since there was no work getting done this week, #287 is on hold. Artie submitted it for last week’s Committee meeting as a no-caption/stand alone image. I guess he just liked the visual. He said “a picture’s worth a thousand words”, which he’s never said before, at least so concisely. So then Slothrop reminded us we needed to work cats & dogs into the panels at every opportunity, and requested the cat. Hanelore suggested the “Wednesday” line. Artie begrudgingly said, if you add a cat it needs to be Schroedinger’s cat, bc he’s been thinking about making a franchise out of it, but Licensing has been lukewarm on the idea, saying going after the physicist market isn’t great business. Finally, Jenny from Ad Sales got a second therapy cat named Mr. Tickles last month and she suggested the fourth caption. I was going to run them through the focus groups, but that was when the Iceland news broke and the Feds stormed in. Now Slothrop’s in NY and hasn’t checked in and Krenshaw didn’t show up yesterday & nobody knows where he is. Fiskerton & Co. decamped yesterday at 4:00 and the place emptied after that. I don’t know what they found, but it feels like they’ve got something. When they interviewed me, they had all my expense reports, but they were mostly interested in how I’d been promoted two-and-a-half times over the course of 4 weeks earlier this year. I told them it was all a HR mistake and I was going to let someone know, but we’d been super busy, etc. They seemed skeptical. I don’t think I’m guilty of anything, really. Maybe a little. I don’t know, but I don’t love where this is headed. Artie, though, said his interview was great. The agent was a Mariners fan and they spent the whole time commiserating over the M’s and their terrible pitching. So anyway, it looks like we’re on our own for a while, which is really going to stress test the whole Holacracy thing. I’m not sure what happens next. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
