I thought this was an appropriate #tbt for today. Slothrop’s on his way to NY to brief the SynrSys board of directors on the status of the investigation, and left Krenshaw to deal with the Feds. When they asked who was in charge, Slothrop tried to explain that we have a Committee that has some say over things, but the org structure is an HR experiment called Holacracy, in which authority is distributed through self-organization, so technically no one is in charge. I imagine this is probably the first time he’s ever shied away from claiming authority. But the lead agent, whose name is Fiskerton, threatened to charge him with obstruction for being so wishy-washy and refusing to answer the question, so finally Slothrop just gave up and said Krenshaw was in charge. Now Slothrop’s at SeaTac on his way to NY, & Krenshaw’s walking Fiskerton though the Licensing files in the conference room. Meanwhile, they’re continuing w the staff interviews today & using Slothrop’s office. Mine is scheduled for 9:30. Artie’s supposed to come in at 10:30 for his. Hanelore went in first this morning and hasn’t come out yet. I imagine everyone would be Googling “Fifth Amendment” + “expense reporting policies” but they’re probably monitoring our searches. The agents told us not to talk to each other unless it’s absolutely necessary to publish comics. They didn’t mention any restrictions about posting to social media, which is obviously necessary to publish the comics. You could hear a pin drop in here this morning. -Ed.
