#263: Is This the End for Susan & Bron?

A strange turn of events with this one. Artie’s Zen-like response to the daily affront that is the Caption Committee approval process resulted in three phases. First was anger, which meant ever-longer captions that flew in the face of Slothrop’s captioning guidelines. When that didn’t work, it was followed by a period of what we’ll call knowing resignation. This lasted for a while before it was followed, inevitably, by survival & adaption. One clever form of adaptation was to swap the caption and title, bc titles weren’t subject to review. But this strategy ran into the reality of metadata constraints when we couldn’t get the long, rambling titles past the character limits in the syndication engines. So lately Artie’s been moving to an image-only submission process based on the theory that captionless images that stand alone wouldn’t be subject to Committee approval and/or Hanelore’s mathematical caption reductionism. Which brings us to today’s caption. Artie submitted this little dinosaur sketch with no caption again. The Committee was prepared to accept the unspoken backstory, when Hanelore of all people, suggested the long caption you see here. Apparently she and Kal are going through a rough patch & the image struck a chord w her. The words just seemed to flow from her usually-muted magic marker onto the captioning whiteboard. The Committee twisted uncomfortably in their swivel chairs for a few odd minutes as they reconciled this turn of events. And then they just approved it 9-0 and headed out for dim sum.
