TBT #150: Nature, Seen

Tbt to when Artie submitted #150 with the caption “Please support the right to arm bears.” The Committee took a hard pass on that one. “Too political,” they said, which is funny because this was before the whole aliens with Trump hair thing. They came up with “Nature, seen” which is passable, I guess, but Artie says it feels like Muzak playing in the background of a two-story elevator ride. It came in with a middling 9.7/23.0 from the S-MCSS focus groups. I took the liberty of running the “Please support the right to arm bears” version through the system, and it did better at 11.3. Then added another version at Artie’s request: “Please support the bear’s right arm”. Which is random and nonsensical, but it ended up scoring higher than either of the others, at 11.4. I think someone needs to audit the S-MCSS algorithms. But that’s not what they pay me for. Regardless, the Committee wasn’t swayed by the higher scores, so pls enjoy this throwback and let’s all recall the carefree days of #150 when the world was still broken, but at least it was broken in ways we more or less understood. -Ed.
